Counselling with Gwen

A space to feel, explore, and heal; at your own pace.

Counselling can be many things — a place to talk, a place to think, a space to feel or be still. At its heart, it’s a space that is just for you. Whether you're navigating a specific issue, dealing with long-standing emotional patterns, or simply seeking clarity and connection, I offer a gentle, grounded space where you can be fully yourself without judgement or pressure.

I provide both individual counselling, relationship counselling, and a workplace drop-in service, meeting you wherever you are and working collaboratively to support your emotional well-being.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a supportive, confidential process where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences with someone who is trained to listen with empathy, care and perspective. It’s not about being given answers — it’s about being supported as you uncover your own.

Some people come to counselling during times of crisis or transition. Others come for ongoing support, personal development, or to better understand patterns in their lives and relationships. Whatever your reason, this space is here for you — guided by what matters most to you.

The Types of Counselling I Offer

  • Individual Counselling: This is one-to-one support tailored to your needs. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, grief, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, identity questions, or a general feeling of being overwhelmed or stuck, our work together will focus on what feels most relevant for you.

  • Sessions are led by your pace and priorities — sometimes you may need to talk through what's on your mind; other times we may explore patterns, beliefs, or ways of being that no longer serve you. You don’t need to have it all figured out — just come as you are.

  • Relationship Counselling: Relationships can be deeply fulfilling — and also deeply challenging. I work with couples and individuals looking to better understand their relational dynamics, whether in romantic partnerships, friendships, family systems, or co-parenting situations.

  • This space offers an opportunity to speak honestly, listen actively, and explore new ways of communicating, connecting, and caring — for yourself and each other. My approach is collaborative, inclusive, and always rooted in emotional safety.

  • Drop-In Counselling: During times of pressure, change, or loss, people often need someone to talk to — privately, professionally, and without delay. That’s where drop-in counselling can make a real difference.

I offer on-site, drop-in counselling days for organisations who want to support their staff’s emotional wellbeing in a tangible and proactive way.

These can be commissioned as a one-off support offer (e.g. during periods of organisational change, restructuring, or following a bereavement), or as part of a wellbeing or mental health initiative.

    • How it works:

I come into your organisation for a full or half day

Employees can pre-book or drop in for confidential, 1:1 sessions (20–45 mins)

All sessions are held in a private, quiet room provided by you

No formal diagnosis or referral process needed — just a space to talk

Follow-up resources, signposting or referrals can be offered as appropriate

My Approach: Integrative & Person-Led

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches — because no single method fits every person, every time. I tailor each session to your unique needs, goals and experiences, allowing your story and pace to guide our work.

I often weave together elements from the following approaches:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helps us understand the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. We may look at patterns, core beliefs or unhelpful thinking styles — and gently explore new perspectives or coping tools.

  • Person-Centred Therapy:   Places you at the heart of the process. This approach honours your inner wisdom, supporting you in accessing your own insight, resilience, and truth, within a space of acceptance and empathy.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: Looks beneath the surface — exploring how early experiences, attachment styles, and unconscious patterns may be influencing your present life and relationships.

  • Gestalt Therapy: Encourages awareness of your present moment experience — physically, emotionally and relationally. We might explore body sensations, unfinished business, or how you show up in different spaces.

  • Transactional Analysis (TA): Helps us understand communication and relational patterns. TA explores the different roles (or “ego states”) we move through, and how these affect how we relate to ourselves and others.

The Space I Offer

I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the process. My role isn’t to fix you — it’s to walk with you, reflect back what I see, and help you connect with parts of yourself you may have forgotten or never had the space to fully meet.

Whether our work is short-term or long-term, focused or exploratory, I’ll always hold your experience with care, integrity, and respect.
